Structural Load Analysis
2025
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Description:
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of structural analysis within scenic design. Students will learn to dissect complex scenic elements into individual structural members, mastering the art of visualizing and documenting the forces at play through free body diagrams. The curriculum delves into the fundamentals of statics, empowering students to calculate reaction forces that arise in various loading scenarios, ensuring a solid understanding of static equilibrium principles. Additionally, the course equips learners with the analytical skills necessary to assess internal stresses in structural components, a critical competency for predicting the behavior of materials under external forces. This knowledge is vital for creating safe and stable scenic designs that can withstand the rigors of performance demands.
Students will earn 8 professional development hours, which will be noted on their certificate of completion at the end of the course.
Registration in this course is subject to the Purdue University Online Non-Credit Policies.
