Description:
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the geometric properties of structural members and their impact on load-bearing capabilities. Students will explore how the cross-sectional shape of structural members impacts their ability to support loads. By the end of the course, students will be able to calculate properties that include the neutral axis, centroid, area moment of inertia, plastic and elastic section moduli, radius of gyration, and statical moment of area. Additionally, students will be able to connect each of these properties with their specific impact on bending and compression strength.
Students will earn 8 professional development hours, which will be noted on their certificate of completion at the end of the course.
