Description:
Learners will gain basic knowledge on nuclear power reactor technologies, including
- basics on nuclear energy and how nuclear power reactor works,
- history of how nuclear power reactor technologies evolved,
- basic concepts for SMR/AR technologies,
- how SMR/AR are different from conventional power reactors, including their unique attributes.
This non-credit course is designed for professional engineers from non-nuclear backgrounds who are interested in gaining a foundational understanding of nuclear power technologies. No prior knowledge of nuclear engineering is required. The curriculum covers the essentials of nuclear energy, with focus on nuclear power reactor technologies ranging from conventional light water reactors (LWRs) to emerging technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced reactor (AR) designs.
This course is self-paced and contains 15 hours of content consisting of lecture videos, instructional materials, self-directed activities, knowledge checks, and quizzes.
Learners who successfully complete all requirements for the course will receive a digital Certificate of Achievement.
