Needs:
As AI technologies become increasingly prevalent, there is a pressing need for healthcare workers to acquire the skills necessary to effectively utilize these tools, ensuring that they can enhance patient care rather than be replaced by automation.
Audience:
The target audience for this certificate program will be healthcare professionals that are involved in
or adjacent to patient care. This includes physicians, pharmacists, and nurses providing active
patient care as well as administrators and ancillary care services such as respiratory therapy,
social work, physical therapy, and more.
Learning objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Identify various applications and settings where AI is being utilized in healthcare today and where it will migrate to in the future.
- Describe the technical underpinnings of how AI tools are built and function.
- Analyze the clinical and social impacts of AI for patient care including how patients are using these tools as
- well as various ethical and regulatory issues.
- Synthesize a solution to clinical cases using AI tools to improve your skills in the healthcare industry.

Required for Completion:
- Pay the fee for the certification course
- Have access to the web-based curriculum and learning management system
- Be a licensed provider (RPh, MD, or RN (nurses must submit their own receipt for credit)) in order to claim CE credit for your profession
- Complete the course within one year of beginning it
- The course will have a pre and post-test associated with the program. This will provide a measurable means of discovering the level of knowledge gained by participants.
- Individual learner assessments will be evaluated throughout the course to gauge level of interaction and quality of the outputs.
- There will be a cluster of assessments targeted more at ascertaining a participant’s level of knowledge gained after exposure to a given topic. These will take the form of online discussion topics and forums requiring initial posts and commentary posts on other topics.
- The next constellation of assessments will be of an individual nature. These are targeted assessments that require the learner to complete a individual assignment that will be assessed against a given rubric to measure their performance. Successful completion will only be granted at a level of 70% or higher.
- Finally, learners will be required to submit larger summative projects that demonstrate performance of AI tools and tasks in an applied environment that will be assessed against a rubric requiring demonstration of performance at each level identified.
