Mark the 24th anniversary of the ADA by joining this annual session where representatives of the Federal Agencies present an update on their litigation, technical assistance and enforcement efforts over the past year. Participants will have an opportunity to pose questions to the presenters regarding issues in their own workplace or community.

Legal Issues Webinar : Veterans & Bootz’s Law: The Right of Persons with Disabilities to be Accompanied by Service Animals in Public Accommodations --- YONG Hall, Room 1057 (General Session)

While the ADA requires that reasonable accommodations be made to allow service animals to accompany persons with disabilities in places of public accommodation, states may also have laws regarding service animals in those settings. During this session, the passing of Bootz's Law in the state of Texas will be discussed as well as how this law affects Title III entities who deny or prohibit a person from using their service animal in these settings. This session will discuss recent cases and issues regarding service animals including: How ADA definition of service animal might differ from states definition of service animal ; Verification or certification and questions that entities can ask to determine whether an animal is a service animal; Emotional Support or Comfort Animals- how Texas views these animals and the growing issues regarding veterans who use animals for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders-- including changes in Texas Statute on PTSD dogs; Enforcement for violators and how measures may differ for states; Changes to Health and Safety Code for establishments such as restaurants.

In this session Jonathan Campbell will talk about and share some of the best apps for accessibility. You'll learn about high quality apps for reading, writing, communication, and more. He'll explore apps that can be used to magnify print documents for low vision, read books out loud for individuals with dyslexia, and identify objects for the blind.
