COURSE DESCRIPTION
Description:
The Data Science Primer I is an 8-week non-credit, asynchronous course. The course introduces students to programming fundamentals in Python, including loops, functions and different data types, and provides an introduction to data engineering including?working with common data formats and learning the basics of data wrangling. Students will format, extract, clean, filter, transform, search, combine, summarize, aggregate, and visualize a diverse range of data sets. Python libraries including MatPlotLib and Pandas are used. Learners will gain practical knowledge in using the Python language to do specific data science tasks; gain a basic knowledge of Python data science libraries; be able to understand and employ basic data science techniques to complete tasks; and be able to run basic data science analyses using raw .csv data sets.
Registration in this course is subject to the Purdue University Online Non-Credit Policies.
