Description:
The Digital Enterprise Certificate: PLM, MBD & TDP provides a comprehensive, practice-focused introduction to the digital technologies that enable modern product development. The program blends foundational concepts with hands-on activities to build practical skills in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Model-Based Definition (MBD), and Technical Data Packages (TDP).
Participants begin by exploring PLM as the enterprise framework for managing digital product information across its lifecycle. Key topics include digital product definition, product data management, and downstream applications such as virtual manufacturing. Through experiential learning, participants gain insight into how PLM systems connect people, processes, and data to improve decision-making and product quality. Originally developed with The Boeing Company, the curriculum now benefits learners from all industries.
Building on this foundation, the program introduces MBD, focusing on how 3D CAD models enriched with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) serve as the authoritative source for communicating product requirements. Learners then examine TDPs, including emerging 3D Intelligent (3Di) TDPs that integrate MBD with PLM-managed data to replace or enhance traditional 2D drawings.
Designed for CAD designers and technical professionals, with value for engineering, manufacturing, project, and quality roles. The certificate equips participants with the knowledge to support a connected, model-based digital enterprise.
Upon registration, students will have 1 year of access to the following courses. It is advised to complete each course in this order:
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Certificate - Digital Product Definition in PLM Environments
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Certificate - Product Data and Configuration Management
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Certificate - PLM Across the Enterprise
- Fundamentals of Model-Based Definition (MBD) & Technical Data Packages (TDP)
Students are provided access to a vitrual environment which includes all software need to complete assignments. A Certificate of Achievement and 3 CEUs are awarded after completion of each course. The courses are asynchronous and fully self-paced. If needed, an instructor is available while going through the program.
