The Purdue University Brian Lamb School of Communication and the Political Science Department in cooperation with the C-SPAN Archives are sponsoring a research conference November 16-18, 2014 at Purdue University. President Mitch Daniels has provided funds to sponsor the conference and the C-SPAN Education Foundation has made awards of $2500 each to 16 scholars who will present papers at the conference.
The papers will all utilize the C-SPAN Video Library in their work and consist of work of political scientists, communication scholars, historians, and other social scientists on a range of topics from the First Lady, African-American members of Congress, STEM debates in Congress, technology issues, campaigns and elections, and technical innovations in measuring political behavior.
The conference will take place on the Purdue University West Lafayette Campus, feature a keynote address by Professor David Caputo of Pace University, and include sessions on the C-SPAN Archives, a tour of the Archives, and innovative teaching using C-SPAN Video.
This event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Registration includes the Welcome Reception, Continental Breakfast and Lunch on Monday and Tuesday, Dinner on Monday, plus all materials.
