Description:
The Metrology 101 certificate course introduces the science of measurement and includes modules on Good Measurement Practice, Traceability and Calibration, Standards, Calipers, Go/No-Go gauges, Mechanical Drawings, Tolerances, and an introduction to Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances. Each module consists of an introductory video plus other short videos to explain and demonstrate aspects of the topic. Online assessments to be completed by participants are also employed to further understanding of basic concepts of using and reading measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore micrometers, dial indicators, Pi tapes, and Go/No-Go gauges.
After the eighth module, participants are expected to successfully complete (70%) an online assessment to earn the certificate. Each module is expected to require approximately 2 hours to complete, including the online assessment. The 8 modules, then, should require about 16 hours to complete with the final assessment expected to be completed in 2 hours. The course is self-paced but the instructor is available for consultation and questions.
